PreK-K | Phonics & Sight Words

 

In each lesson, your students will learn a variety of skills from the regular course components. Some of the features include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Identify consonants and vowels, as well as various spellings.

  • Integrate sound consonant blends.

  • Memorize high frequency words for spelling and reading aloud.

  • Oral reading of passages emphasizing sight words.

  • Review assigned letter writing exercises.​

All assignments are completed with rotating words and examples, including comments for the next lesson and introduction to new material.

Additionally, I include a story where I read and explain the lesson that can be learned from the story and elicit thoughts or feelings about the story.

This is a supplemental/extension curriculum that has been proven to be effective in helping your child be fully prepared for kindergarten and get ahead of other children.

K-1st Grade | Public Speaking


Sharing ideas is the cornerstone of all communication, and getting a good grasp of it from an early age will benefit any student, so this class offers speaking skills that will build confidence and lay the foundation for a lifetime of success. From an early age, children have a voice and opinions, and I want to help them express them clearly and proudly through Public Speaking in a variety of settings.

 

Through the course, your child will gain:

Creative expression is one of the greatest human achievements, blending imagination and  storytelling through skills. In this class, young writers will explore the art of storytelling, employing the use of imagery, some literary devices, word choice, and structure to bring their ideas to life. Each session will inspire creativity while fine-tuning the craft of writing, helping students build confidence in their unique voice.

Through the course, they will gain the following experiences: 

 

  • Engaging, age-appropriate writing exercises

  • Step-by-step guidance in crafting compelling stories

  • Exploration of literary techniques to enhance storytelling

  • A journey from brainstorming to completing a short story

Literature Reading & Analytical Writing for Middle School


Since middle school acts as the bridge between foundational learning and deep literary understanding, this class is designed to help students read and write with confidence. Through active reading and hands-on writing and editing activities, we'll explore the characteristics that bring stories to life.

By analyzing and crafting stories, students will sharpen their reading and writing skills, develop critical thinking, and gain a deeper appreciation for literature. 

Some topics that the students will explore include:

  • Key literary elements—figurative language, foreshadowing, anthropomorphism, archetypes, and more

  • How authors weave these elements into storytelling

  • Weekly group discussions on the short story of the week

  • Analytical Writing assignments that reinforce literary techniques

Literature Reading & Analytical Writing for High School


Writing is the key to effective communication, critical thinking, and academic achievement, so in  this class, students will break down the essay structure, analyze effective writing strategies, and refine their skills to create compelling, well-structured essays.

 

With each lesson, students will enhance their reading fluency, sharpen their analytical thinking, and gain transferable skills that will prepare them for a variety of essay styles. 

The approach shall consist of the following:

 

  • Develop more of a critical eye when it comes to reading

  • Employ context for more challenging and advanced vocabulary

  • Establish and solidify the elements of a Chunk Paragraph Essay

  • Develop a self-editing mindset

  • Write better content that will translate to better performance in academic settings
